φC31-mediated integrations of D. simulans aubergine and D. melanogaster aubergine transgenes are compared for their ability to complement aub^HN/aub^N11 for (A) female sterility across three different age ranges and for TE transcript abundance (B and C). Panel C contains the same data from the transgenic genotypes as in (B), replotted on a larger scale to illustrate potential differences between them. TE transcript abundance was determined relative to rpl32 and is scaled to the transcript abundance in aub^HN/aub^N11;φ{D. melanogaster aubergine}/+.
