Expression of CD109 in different melanoma cell lines. Cells were cultured on the glass cover slips for 2 days prior to staining of the cell surface of non-fixed live cells with an antibody against CD109. CD109 (red) was expressed on the surface of cells derived from melanoma metastasis (WM165, WM164 and WM852) but not on the surface of cells derived from primary melanoma (Bowes and G361). In addition, cells derived from an invasive advanced vertical growth phase of primary melanoma (WM793) expressed detectable levels of CD109. Nuclei were visualized with DAPI (blue).
