A,B,C. Dorsal skin was sectioned and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Mutant epidermis was notably thicker and hyperkeratotic compared to the control (A, B, black bars are identical lengths.), and had significantly fewer hair follicles. Higher magnifications (B,C) show thicker stratum corneum (SC) and changes in keratohyalin granules in the stratum granulosum (SG) (white arrows).
