Scheme of the V-type H+-ATPase. H+-ATPases use the energy released by the hydrolysis of ATP to move protons against their concentration gradients. The V0 domain is involved in translocation of the protein. The V1 domain is involved in ATP-hydrolysis. The precise subunits composition is not entirely clear and several slightly different schemes are proposed.
