Sequence alignment of ribosomal protein L27 from S. aureus (Sau), Bacillus subtilis (Bsu), Listeria monocytogenes (Lmo) and E. coli (Eco). The alignment was generated with CLUSTALW (Thompson et al., 2002) and ESPript 2.2 (http://espript.ibcp.fr). The sequences of the N-terminal peptides of gp46 and gp47 from 80α are aligned with L27 below, showing the conserved sequence of the cleaved peptide. The cleavage site known from gp46 and gp47 (Poliakov et al., 2008) is indicated by the vertical line through all the sequences.
