Height and lengths of intervening parts: The protruding parts between crypts have a shape resembling an ellipse (as indicated by the yellow dotted lined), allowing the major axis (yellow line) of the ellipse to be drawn. The vertical line representing the major axis was defined as the height of the intervening part.
