Activity in the PPC: (a) The mean of the Pre and Post Activity over the four quarters of the experiment for correctly solved instances of the different problem types. (b) The Pre versus Post activity for correctly solved instances of the four problems types plus activity for Exception errors. (c) The hemodynamic response for correctly solved Regulars and Exceptions (averaged over types) using the event locking procedure described in [13]. The boxcar lines give the average engagement estimated for the Fixation, Pre, Response, and Post periods. The points are the data and the solid line is the predicted BOLD response obtained by convolving a hemodynamic response function with the engagement functions.
