In place of the AHA metric of ≤ 450 kcal/week of sugar-sweetened beverages, the available GoodNEWS analysis allowed comparison on the basis of total daily sugar. The value 56 tsp/wk was derived based on the AHA’s allowance of half of the added sugar recommendation allowed from beverages (6).
