Prolonged muscarinic activation induces degradation of KCC2. A. Cultured hippocampal neurons were treated with carbachol (CCh, 100 µM) for up to 120 min. The cell surface and total levels of KCC2 were measured using immunoblotting. Total extracts were also immunoblotted with tubulin antibodies. The levels of cell surface (B) and total levels of KCC2 (C) were then determined and normalized to zero time. [*Significantly different from control condition (p<0.01; value = mean ± SEM, Student's t-test, n=3)].
