TLR9 is specifically recruited to phagosomes containing Aspergillus fumigatus. Mouse macrophages expressing TLR9-GFP (green) and CD82-mRFP1 (red) were exposed to both live A. fumigatus (Af293) and fluorescent polystyrene beads (blue-5 μm). Twenty minutes after phagocytosis, macrophages had taken up both particles, but only phagosomes containing A. fumigatus recruited both CD82-mRFP1 and TLR9-GFP.
