Tuberculosis (TB) incidence (cases per 100 patient years) for HIV-infected patients attending outpatient services in Cape Town, South Africa. Patients were stratified by CD4 cell count and World Health Organization clinical stage. Use of antiretroviral therapy was associated with an approximate 80% reduction of TB incidence over a mean follow-up period of 15 months. (Data from Badri M, Wilson D, Wood R. [10]).
