The distance estimations between the binding sites of two adjacent GPCRs (modeled from pdb 1GZM). A. The binding site is estimated to be ∼12 Å from the nearest edge of the receptor. When the receptors are arranged in a head-to-head (B), tail-to-head (C), or tail-to-tail fashion (D), the estimated distances between the binding pockets are 25, 35, and 45 Å, respectively. These distances do not account for the presence of additional lipids or domain swapping as was discussed in the text.
