A. Binding results of the two classes of bivalent MSH(7) ligands. Binding of the ligands was tested via competition with Eu-NDP-α-MSH. The bivalent ligands constructed with the PEGO inserts (▲) do not bind with higher affinity compared to the bivalent ligands constructed primarily from Pro-Gly repeats (■). Results represent the average of at least five independent experiments, each done in quadruplicate, and error bars indicate the standard deviation. B. Comparison of compounds with the same number of PG repeats. Only one set of compounds showed increased binding affinity upon incorporation of PEGO inserts.
