Background subtracted and normalized SAXS profiles from 2 mg/ml glucose isomerase at room temperature and 100 K. The presence of cryoprotectant (45% w/w PEG-200) and rapid cooling to 100 K do not affect the essential features of the scattering profile. The CRYSOL prediction from the crystal structure of GI was calculated using default parameters, and is shown for reference. For display purposes, curves were multiplied by an arbitrary scale factor. The total exposure times for room temperature samples were 32 s in aqueous buffer and 52 s in PEG buffer. The sample at T = 100 K was exposed for 180 s (corresponding to a dose of 220 kGy).
