Frequency modulations are distributed continuously in non-stepped syllables. (A) Distributions of the frequency modulation of syllables manually classified as up FM, flat, or down FM. The vertical lines mark the 6 kHz of FM boundaries that was arbitrarily set for manual classification for these syllables. (B) Distributions of bandwidth of syllables manually classified as flat or chevron.
