Experimental protocol of CPR and postresuscitation care in VF-induced cardiac arrest model. When mechanical ventilation was resumed (start CPR), rats were assigned to 1 of 4 experimental groups: mechanical ventilation (MV) with 98% O2+2% nitrogen (N2), the control group; MV with 98% O2+2% hydrogen (H2), the H2 group; MV with 98% O2+2% N2+therapeutic hypothermia (TH), the TH group; and MV with 98% O2+2% H2+TH, the H2+TH group.
