C4 is expressed early during infection. BSC-1 cells were infected with vC4-TAP at 10 p.f.u. per cell in the presence or absence of 40 µg AraC ml⁻¹. At the indicated times p.i., the cells were washed with PBS and lysed. Samples were resolved by SDS-PAGE and analysed by immunoblotting with antibodies against the indicated proteins. The positions of molecular mass markers are indicated (kDa).
