Table 2. Factors associated with a positive rK39 RDT result in samples from infected Brazilian dogs.
Variable | Odds Ratio (95% CI) | P |
PCR status: negative | 1 | |
positive | 5.99 (2.34–15.3) | 0.0002 |
Clinical status: asymptomatic | 1
oligosymptomatic | 1.47 (0.77–2.80)
polysymptomatic | 3.47 (1.47–8.17) | 0.015 |
Clinical status: asymptomatic | 1
symptomatic | 1.97 (1.10–3.51) | 0.022 |
Infectious: no | 1 | |
yes | 3.68 (1.87–7.24) | 0.0002 |
CLA ELISA titre (per 10× increase) | 20.2 (8.52–48.0) | <0.0001 |
Parasite burden (per 10× increase) | 1.64 (1.22–2.20) | 0.001 |
Odds Ratios (95% CI) were estimated using general estimating equations with robust standard errors, to account for the non-independence of repeat samples from the same dog. All analyses included time since confirmed infection (months and months2) as covariates.
