Table 2. Factors associated with a positive rK39 RDT result in samples from infected Brazilian dogs.

Variable Odds Ratio (95% CI) P
PCR status: negative 1
positive 5.99 (2.34–15.3) 0.0002
Clinical status: asymptomatic 1
oligosymptomatic 1.47 (0.77–2.80)
polysymptomatic 3.47 (1.47–8.17) 0.015
Clinical status: asymptomatic 1
symptomatic 1.97 (1.10–3.51) 0.022
Infectious: no 1
yes 3.68 (1.87–7.24) 0.0002
CLA ELISA titre (per 10× increase) 20.2 (8.52–48.0) <0.0001
Parasite burden (per 10× increase) 1.64 (1.22–2.20) 0.001

Odds Ratios (95% CI) were estimated using general estimating equations with robust standard errors, to account for the non-independence of repeat samples from the same dog. All analyses included time since confirmed infection (months and months2) as covariates.
