Diagrammatic representation of (1) the electrochemical grafting of an arylamine to the ITO surface following in situ diazotisation of p-phenylenediamine and (2) its DCC coupling to SWCNTs, yielding VASWCNTs on a ITO surface. (3) Upon wrapping with DNA, (4) the VASWCNTs are capable to be taken up naturally by a mouse macrophage cell and subsequently to be used for intracellular electrochemical communication with the redox active MB moiety.
