C3 was transcriptionally increased after OGD primary cortical neurons. (a) Eleven hundred base pairs from the C3 promoter region was inserted into backbone vector (Fan et al.1996). (b) Mouse primary cortical neurons were transfected with the C3-luc plasmid and were induced 3 h OGD followed by 6 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h of reperfusion. The luciferase activity was quantified. C3 promoter was significantly activated after 3 h OGD up to 72 h reperfusion in primary neurons (***p<0.001, n=6, compared to normoxia; -fold to normoxia). Nor indicates normoxia.
