Abstract

The Journal of Radiology Case Reports (JRCR) and the international Radiology community Radiolopolis start from June 2012 on a new academic award system by providing educational grants for excellent pictorial review articles in Radiology.

The Journal of Radiology Case Reports (JRCR) has been collaborating with the international Radiology community Radiolopolis [1,2] for several years and we have the pleasant news that the collaboration has been further deepened by an agreement to offer educational grants for our authors. This online community for Radiology professionals has been already providing awards for academic contributions in example in form of the Radiology Olympics [3] and now decided to award excellent educational articles in our journal with educational grants.

Grant types

Two types of grants will be available: A) Mini grants and B) Excellence in Education grants.

A) Mini grants

Each pictorial review article, published in the JRCR, receives a grant of 100 USD as a financial award for their valuable contribution. This is independent of other competing review articles.

B) Excellence in Education grants

At the end of each year, the best pictorial review article, published in the JRCR, will be awarded with a 1000 USD educational grant as an acknowledgement for their excellent work done. All pictorial review articles published in the JRCR participate automatically in the competition for that grant.

Both, the Mini and Excellence in Education grants apply only to pictorial review articles – not to case reports or research articles. Pictorial review articles glance by providing an abundance of image examples of the discussed topic, and educational information to understand the etiology, findings, and implications for the daily practice. Please refer to the author guidelines [4] as well as detailed announcements in the Journal of Radiology Case Reports group [5]. The award system takes effect from June 1, 2012 on.

With these financial “aids” we want to acknowledge the valuable contributions of our authors and further increase the academic value of our journal. We hope to find your name soon on our publication list!

Thank you again to all authors, reviewers and section editors to make this journal an excellent resource for education!
