The image on the top was obtained by scanning at the medial level as compared to the image below. (MR images on the right): T1-weighted MR image corresponding to the US scans. The direct tendon shows a homogeneous and hyperechoic appearance. Its insertion on to the anterior-inferior iliac spine is well visible on the US image. In physiological conditions the tendon is thicker just before insertion. In B, the indirect tendon appears hypoechoic because of anisotropy.
