The Webometrics rank measures the visibility of academic institutions in terms of web links to their web domains (see http://www.webometrics.info/Distribution_by_Country.asp). However, it does not measure relative citations flows. The Webometrics ranking of 2012 includes 45 countries, while our fitness values are determined for the 46 countries, which produced more than 1,000 Web of Science-listed papers per year. The figure shows the 40 countries, which appeared in both rankings. The United State is first in both rankings. The other countries are distributed around the diagonal, indicating that both rankings are pretty much consistent with each other.
