Mutations in hmsH, hmsF, hmsR, and hmsS do not affect levels of HmsT after growth at 26 or 37°C. Equal concentrations of whole-cell lysates were separated by SDS-PAGE; immunoblots were reacted with the antiserum against HmsT. The antibody against HmsT cross-reacted with other proteins: one of these bands at 37°C is near the molecular mass of HmsT. Cells of KIM6-2008, KIM6-2011, and KIM6-2012 will not produce HmsS due to polarity of the mini-kan insertions into the hmsHFRS operon.
