Calcium and phosphate ion releases from NACP nanocomposite immersed in solutions of pH 4, pH 5.5, and pH 7 (mean ± sd; n = 5). Ion releases at pH 4 were higher than those at pH 5.5 and 7 (p < 0.05). The NACP nanocomposite was “smart” and greatly increased the ion release at cariogenic pH 4, when these ions were most needed to inhibit caries.
