Schematic of Mos1 transposition. The 1.3 kB transposon has 28 bp inverted repeats (IR) indicated with arrows. Binding of a transposase dimer to one end forms a single-end complex (SEC2). The transposon is fully excised from donor DNA in the paired-end complex (PEC). Mariner/Tc1 transposons integrate at TA sequences, resulting in signature duplications either side of the inserted transposon.
