The ΔpvdI-pchC mutant of Pf-5 did not grow on the iron-limited medium in isolation or in the presence of pyoverdine-deficient mutants of WCS374 or A506 but did grow in the presence of the wild-type pyoverdine-producing strain WCS374 or A506.
