In vivo and ex vivo imaging of brain lesion cell death with GSAO-AF750 is a function of lesion size and probe concentration. (a) In vivo quantification of GSAO-AF750 signal intensity in the cryolesion over time. GSAO-AF750 fluorescence intensity was compared between mice bearing 5 and 60-s cryolesions (**P<0.01; *P<0.05), or injected with a lower concentration of GSAO-AF750 (*P<0.05 at 1, 3 and 6 h). (b) The brains of the mice were excised for ex vivo imaging 6 h after probe injection and the integrated mean intensity of the AF750 signal was measured. GSAO-AF750 fluorescence intensity was significantly lower in brains bearing a 5-s cryolesion or injected with 0.1 mg/kg GSAO-AF750 (**P<0.01)
