Crystals of Mtb-DapD obtained in the absence (a) and presence (b) of 10 mM MgCl₂. The crystals grew in the presence of a high concentration of sodium acetate pH 7.0 (Reinhard et al., unpublished work). The protein buffer was 20 mM Tris–HCl pH 8.0, 200 mM NaCl, 3 mM DTT. As shown previously, the enzymatic activity of Mtb-DapD is enhanced in the presence of MgCl₂ (Schuldt et al., 2009 ▶).
