Figure 1.

Schematic of the parametrized breadth-first search of the dialogues occurring within a specified time window, starting from a given user in MySpace, marked as node ‘1’. Nodes ‘6’ and ‘11’ indicate users who do not allow public access to their ‘walls’; however, their messages left on the neighbouring ‘walls’ can be identified. These nodes and their links are not included in the data. The presence of bots, companies or another non-ordinary users is identified, an example depicted by node ‘5’, and dropped from further search. (Online version in colour.)
