Wild-type and CHOP−/− mice (male, 8 weeks old) were fed with normal diet and gavaged daily with vehicle control (0.2% sodium carboxy methyl cellulose) or individual HIV PIs (50 mg/kg) for 4 weeks. The liver sections were stained using hematoxylin and eosin (HE) or Oil Red O and the hepatic injury was detected by TUNEL assays as described in “Methods”. The images were taken with an Olympus microscope equipped with an image recorder using a 40x lens. Representative photomicrographs for each treatment are shown.
