Comparison of experimental data (points) and corresponding theoretical calculations (solid lines) for the microtubule transport velocity as a function of the fraction of fast motors Nf/N for three different types of gliding assays with fast and slow motors: (A) for fast wild-type and slow mutant kinesin-1 motors (18), (B) for fast OSM-3 and slow kinesin-II motors (16), (C) for fast Xklp1 and slow Xkid motors (17). All three experimental data sets are well described by our theory based on the master equation approach and Eq. 1 with parameter values as given in Table 1.
