The value of the free energy for each dataset is shown in black stars. The maximum free energy is clearly identified at intermediate m values. The remaining bar graphs (from top-right to bottom-right) illustrate the posterior expectations (in gray) after inverting the simulated DCMs (the bars in black represent the true coupling values used during the generation of the synthetic data). The error bars represent 95% confidence interval for the average over the 10 synthetic datasets.
