Preoperatively the mean Constant score (with SD whiskers) of the traumatic group was slightly lower than in non-traumatic group (46 vs. 52, P = 0.01). The postoperative Constant scores behaved similarly in traumatic and non-traumatic patient groups. At three months Constant scores were 61 and 60 (P = 0.72) and at one year 73 and 77 (P = 0.03) respectively.
