Figure 3

Immunocytochemical analysis of expression of junctional proteins in CPC-2 cell line derived from human CP carcinoma. This image shows that CPC-2 cells expressed TJ proteins, occludin and claudin-1 and adherent junctions proteins E-cadherin and β-catenin. Occludin and β-catenin immunoreactivity was largely restricted to the cell-to-cell contact areas, while claudin 1 was found to be restricted to the nuclei of these epithelial cells. Expression of E-cadherin was slim, but largely restricted to cell-to-cell contacts. These findings could be caused by dedifferentiation of CPC-2 cells, when compared to pathologically unaltered CPE.
