(b,d,f) that were recaptured in trials with different host species (a,b), successfully obtained a blood meal (c,d) or died during host-seeking (e,f). Host types are: CH, chicken; CA, calf; CO, cow; DG, dog; GT, goat; H, unprotected human; H(+N), human sleeping under an untreated net. Colours indicate the nature of statistical differences between the ‘human without a net’ reference group and other host treatments (determined by Dunnett's post hoc test, adjusting for multiple comparisons). Dark grey indicates treatments that had a statistically higher value than the human reference group, light grey indicates treatments that had a statistically lower value than the reference group and white refers to treatments that were not significantly different from the reference group.
