ApoAI-mediated apoE secretion is PKC-dependent, and this process is ABCA1-independent. HMDMs isolated from healthy donors (A) and Tangier disease (TD) patients (B) were acutely exposed to ApoAI (25 μg/ml) in the presence or absence of 200 nm CalpC. Levels of secreted apoE were detected by Western blot analysis and quantified relative to control. Results shown represent mean ± S.E. (error bars) of three different donors, each containing triplicate cultures.
