Protein synthesis within the DLS was necessary for BDNF to decrease ethanol self-administration. The protein synthesis inhibitor CHX (1 µl of a 10 µg/µl solution) and BDNF (1 µl of a 0.75 µg/µl solution) were co-infused into the DLS 3 h before the beginning of the operant self-administration session.
