Effect of green tea polyphenols (GTP) and its major constituent (−) epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) and HDAC inhibitor, trichostatin A (TSA), on the expression of p21/waf1 and Bax at transcriptional and message levels in LNCaP human prostate cancer cells. (A) Cells were treated with GTPs (2.5–10 µg/ml) or EGCG (5–20 µM) for 3 and 7 days or TSA (20 ng/ml) for 2 days and western blotting was performed for p21/waf1 and Bax levels in LNCaP cells. (B) Relative intensities of p21/waf1 and Bax proteins normalized to β-actin in LNCaP cells. (C) Estimation of mRNA levels of p21/waf1 and Bax in LNCaP cells as determined by RT-PCR.
