(A) The presence of NMIs at orthologous gene TSSs is preserved as illustrated by a pairwise analysis of NMIs at vertebrate gene orthologues. The percentage of NMIs conserved at orthologous gene TSSs was calculated in a pairwise manner and found to be highly statistically significant for all comparisons across the seven vertebrate species (p<10−10, hypergeometric test).
