Transversely isotropic eight chain model. Individual chains are modeled as wormlike chains with an energy ψwlc parameterized in terms of the end-to-end length r. Eight chains are assembled in a transversely isotropic unit cell with dimensions a and b, and a characteristic orientation ν0. The energy of each unit cell consists of the bulk energy ψblk, the energy of the eight individual chains ψchn, and their repulsive contributions ψrep.
