Locus-specific DNA methylation reprogramming in porcine early embryos. The dynamic DNA methylation patterns are generally diverse in porcine early embryos. The pluripotency genes, such as POU5F1 and NANOG, display regular DNA demethylation and de novo methylation process, while the others, such as SOX2 and CDX2, retain hypomethylation in their CpG islands during porcine embryogenesis. The DMR in imprinted gene (IGF2/H19) exhibits differential DNA methylation during development. Additionally, centromeric repeats (multiple copies) maintain moderate DNA methylation during porcine embryonic development.
