Microtemplated fibrin scaffold construction. (a) Bundle poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/polycarbonate (PC) fibers & sinter to form PMMA matrix with PC cores spaced 60 μm apart, (b) section & immobilize ends of PC cores, (c) selectively remove PMMA matrix, (d) pack PMMA beads around PC cores and sinter, (e) add fibrinogen solution via centrifugation, (f) polymerize with thrombin solution, (g) remove synthetic polymers, and (h) rehydrate fibrin scaffold.
