H₂O₂ production in S. sanguinis during growth. A small portion (10⁸ cells) of an S. sanguinis culture grown overnight was inoculated into 10 ml TSB and then incubated at 37°C with 5% CO₂. Culture supernatant at the appropriate phase was prepared, and the H₂O₂ concentration was measured as described in Materials and Methods (black bar). The line represents the growth curve of S. sanguinis.
