The dinB(C66A) strain has an elevated frequency of homologous recombination. The dinB(C66A) allele is present on the chromosome and is expressed from its native promoter. Cells were transduced with ΔsrlD::kan P1 virulent phage at an MOI of 1. In this assay, the number of transductants is directly correlated with the number of recombination events. Transductants were identified as kanamycin-resistant (Kan^r) colonies. The number of transductants was normalized to the total number of cells used per transduction.
