Uninfected mice; mice with S. aureus bacteremia that were euthanized early (day 4-5); mice with S. aureus bacteremia that were euthanized later (day 10–11). In lungs, asterisk indicates bronchopneumonia with neutrophils. In liver, arrow indicates hepathic microabscesses with neutrophils. In kidneys, arrows indicate abscesses in kidneys.
