Cells were immunostained for Cx43 (red). Note that the S279A and S282A mutants restored gap junction assembly as robustly as the sorting-motif mutant YA/VD-Cx43, whereas S279D and S282D did not. (B) Capan-1 and BxPC3 cells were transiently transfected with Myc-tagged S279A and were immunostained for Cx43 (red) and Myc (green) after 24 h. Note the robust colocalization of total Cx43 with Myc.
