Biodistribution of Gd-ESMA in mice determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Within 120 minutes of injection (black bars) the agent has been largely eliminated from the body. Excretion is predominanty renal with a small component of hepatic (biliary) excretion too. Retention of the agent is seen in tissues with a high content of elastic fibers, in particular the aorta. Reproduced with permission [15].
