Nine-day-old Arabidopsis seedlings of GhGalT1 transgenic lines, wild type and mutants growing on 1/2 MS without sugar (A–C) and with 1% sucrose (D–F); Ca: chlorophyll a (mg/L); Cb: chlorophyll b (mg/L); Ca+b: total chlorophyll (mg/L); Ca = 12.7×A663–2.59×A645; Cb = 22.9×A645–4.67×A663; Ca+b = 20.3×A645+8.04×A663. A663 and A645 indicate absorbance at 645 and 663 nm. Bars show standard errors. Asterisk represents significant difference (one asterisk: P value<0.05; two asterisk: P value<0.01) between the transgenic lines and wild-type by t-test. WT: wild type; GhGalT1oe-L1 and -L5: GhGalT1 overexpression transgenic line 1 and 5; SALK 043252 and SALK 015338: two T-DNA insertion mutants. The assays were repeated three times along with three independent repetitions of the biological experiments.
